Swimming

It is warm here in Arizona compared to most of the country right now but still not hot enough to swim in our own personal pool but our neighborhood has a heated pool through the winter which we have really been enjoying. Lizzy still loves the water but I think this year will be her last year to wear the float swimsuit. Our goal is for Lizzy to be swimming on her own this summer. Once Lizzy and I get back from a trip to Houston it's time to start swimming lessons to be ready for pool season. Today Lizzy swam on her own for almost a minute without any help!

Whoa Volcano!

Lizzy has been wanting to make volcano for a while now so we finally did. We used a vase and covered it with old play dough and a salt dough mixture and let it dry. We painted it then used the recipe bellow. Here is a video of our volcano erupting.

1 tablespoon liquid dish washing soap 3 drops red food coloring 1 cup vinegar 1 1/2 cups warm water 2 tablespoons baking soda

Snowman Footprint Craft

Every year we have done some sort of footprint craft for Christmas/Winter. Since it's still winter I thought I would share this craft we did around Christmastime. We did a footprint snowman using Lizzy's foot. Pretty simple to do with some paint and markers. My favorite all time keepskate is Lizzy's 1st footprint craft. I love looking back at her little footprints. This will probably be our last footprint craft as Lizzy's feet are getting bigger but we will still do handprint crafts.

Swings!

Lizzy has always loved swings the most at parks but for some reason none of the parks where we live have swings. Lizzy always asks for them but we haven't found a park that has them around here. Luckily we do have some nice parks within walking distance but no swings. For Christmas Santa brought Lizzy a surprise...swings of her very own! She of course loves swinging and singing while she swings!

Snow Day at the Science Center

Lizzy enjoyed throwing snowballs at mommy and daddy for snow day at the science center!

World Wildlife Zoo

The weather has been so nice here in the low 70's all week so we decided to go to the World Wildlife Zoo. It was so much fun seeing all the variety of animals they had. Lizzy even got to feed a giraffe!

This time of year is perfect for going to all those outdoor places here in Phoenix so we hope to go out more and explore Arizona between now and the end of Spring.

Happy Elf

Happy Elf arrived early this year the day before Thanksgiving. Lizzy had found the book about Happy Elf early and we read it a few times before she found Happy Elf. If you would like to read more about our Happy Elf alternative to Elf on the Shelf click here . I've seen Kindness Elves going around and they seem like a really sweet idea if you are looking for an alternative to Elf on the Shelf. Lizzy looks forward to Happy Elf every year so we decided to stick to Happy Elf and not adopt any new traditions this year. I do plan to find something Lizzy and I can do together to teach her kindness and giving to others this holiday season.

Saint Nicholas Day

Lizzy has been learning about Saint Nicholas Day in school and was anticipating his visit. Lizzy set everyone's wooden shoes out and the next morning woke to small gifts from Saint Nicholas. Lizzy was surprised to open the gifts she thought were candy. Lizzy had oranges and chocolate coins for breakfast and played with her top, crow sounder, and new leap pad game Brave.

Picture Lizzy took that we found on the camera from Saint Nicholas morning.
