Carving Pumpkins

 Lizzy's grandparents are visiting from Indiana for Halloween! Lizzy was very excited to carve pumpkins with her grandparents. One was a sort of potato head kit pumpkin and the other Lizzy watched grandpa carve.  Here are the pumpkins

Cornstarch Goop

Lizzy has always liked the show Sid the Science Kid and each show they have an experiment you can try at home. Lizzy watched the show then found me to ask if we had cornstarch, water, and food coloring. We had the ingredients and Lizzy made cornstarch goop. Lizzy played with this at least 40 min. which is a long time for her. Lizzy enjoyed making balls of goop and watching it ooze and drip through her hands. 

Lizzy let me know today that she wants to start making her own cooking shows! I think she could. Lizzy has been cooking and baking with me since she was very little and now she can help in the kitchen by gathering all the ingredients, measuring, and even following simple recipes. Lizzy usually helps prepare dinner most nights in some way or another. I feel lucky to have so many memories of Lizzy at home helping in the kitchen, doing activities, lounging around, and being silly. Cooking video by Lizzy coming soon on youtube!

Balloon Spooktacular Fest

We went to the Balloon Spooktactular where Lizzy got to trick or treat at each hot air balloon and play in the various bouncy houses.  It was lots of fun!

Fireside

Believe it or not mornings and nights are getting pretty cool here in Arizona. We had our first fire in our fire pit last weekend. Lizzy roasted marshmellows and made smores by the fire. We also had some shadow puppets our aunt had given us that we finally got to use. The dogs enjoyed being by the fire too!

Witches Bath

Getting Lizzy to take a bath isn't easy most days and then once she's in she doesn't want to get out. Every so often we do a fun bath with a theme or new toys. So with it being close to Halloween we tried a "Witches Bath" using a cauldron filled with water and backing soda. Lizzy added vinegar to make it bubble and fizz. Witches paint from shaving cream and food coloring then I added some other little Halloween toys to the bath. In the past we also did a bloody bath for Halloween check it out.

 

Cosmo Dog Park

Our dog Caiman at the dog park. We all had lots of fun watching Caiman play. Lizzy played in the playground for kids and met lots of new dogs.

 While walking around Prescott downtown we walked into a candle shop and Lizzy dipped a candle

Fall Festival

It's that time of the year again, fall festivals and pumpkin picking! This time we drove to Prescott, AZ where it was much cooler than where we live and there are lots of trees starting to change colors for fall. We went to Freeman Farms. It was a much smaller festival than the ones we had been to in the past but it was nice to see everything without large crowds of people. We went to this particular farm because Lizzy wanted a pink pumpkin and they had pink pumpkin varieties for breast cancer month. Lizzy picked a pink pumpkin, orange pumpkin, and a red pumpkin this year!
