Wedding Aniversary

Today is Mike and I's 4 year wedding anniversary. To celebrate our anniversary we kept it really low key and just had dinner at Lupe Tortilla (where we had our rehearsal dinner 4 years ago). Lupe Tortilla is very child friendly and since Lizzy was with us that was important. Lizzy had lots of rice, beans, and enchiladas, she seemed to really enjoy her meal. Afterwards, she played in the sand. It was nice to celebrate together as a family.

Water Days

Every Wednesday is water day at Lizzy's school. The children get to run through the sprinklers and play in the water first thing every Wednesday morning during the summer. Here is Lizzy ready for water day before school in her swimsuit and coverup.

Concert in the Park

Every Friday night the park across the street from us has a concert in the park. We can usually hear the music from where we live but we had never actually gone to the concert in the park to listen to music there. This past Friday we decided to go for 80's night music. Lizzy had fun running in circles, jumping, dancing, chasing after dogs, and having snow cones. We also discovered Lizzy doesn't like kettle corn, she can't get enough of buttered popcorn but doesn't like kettle corn at all. It was a nice night but doing anything with a toddler can be exhausting. Lizzy spent the day and night with Tita and Tito this past Saturday so Mike and I could spend some time together. It was her first time sleeping away from us ever and she loved it. It didn't seem like she wanted to leave when we picked her up. Maybe we'll do this more often.

Our Father's Day

I hope everyone had a great father's day! We spent a low key father's day having waffles for breakfast at home, then gifts....Lizzy got to give daddy the t shirt she painted for him, a Cubs Mr Potato head, and a kite to fly together. Afterwards we had lunch with Tita and Tito...then a movie night watching Yogi Bear together.

Lizzy's 1st Dentist Visit

Now that Lizzy is 2 she has almost all her teeth, minus her molars. Lizzy likes to brush her own teeth if I help she bites down on the tooth brush so I can't brush for her. I'm always worried she's not brushing enough or well enough. So, we went to the dentist for an exam and cleaning.

That morning Lizzy got up, took a bath lightening fast, and got dressed the fastest I've ever seen her. She kept saying dentist, dentist so she was very excited and really to go to the dentist. We got there and she was still excited and happy. Lizzy got x rays done, teeth cleaning, and fluoride without any fuss. She was a perfect angel letting them clean her teeth....I don't think they believed me about my struggles cleaning Lizzy's teeth.

X Rays and waiting on the Dentist

Lizzy sat in the Dentist's chair in consultation room. The dentist loved Lizzy. We will be back in 6 months for the next cleaning.

The Playset!

I am finally getting to sorting through photos of the week Lizzy's grandparents came down from Indiana. I used my brother Christian's camera while they were here and I finally got the pictures back from him.

For Lizzy's birthday her grandparents got her a playset and Lizzy's dad and grandfather put it together over 3 grueling days of 100 degree weather (record high heat). I realize I don't have a picture of the finished playset but Lizzy absolutely loves it! She plays on it all the time.

Happy Solstice

It rained on our summer solstice and it's raining again today but....we need the rain desperately here in Texas so it's nice to have some rain again. To celebrate summer we had burgers for dinner, frozen watermelon slices for dessert, sun inspired finger painting, and yoga by the candle light to wind down. Happy Summer Solstice!

Father's Day Gift

Lizzy made a father's day gift. I found this shirt at Walmart, the shirts says World's Best Dad Hands Down, it comes with paint to add hand prints to it. Lizzy really liked adding her hand prints to it. Lizzy will be giving her gift to her daddy tomorrow for Father's Day!

Listening to Music

Lizzy loves to dance and sing songs. I put a CD player in her playstand where she can go and listen to music. We only have one children’s CD and Lizzy says she doesn’t like it. I’m searching for music Lizzy can sing along with and parent’s can enjoy too. I would like to use some of our instruments when we listen to music as well.

Friday Evening

After a long work week leaving work early to be with my family is definitely rewarding. I spend time with Lizzy just us two like we use to before daddy comes home. It's nice. This Friday we went to a new snow cone place Kahuna Joe's that was voted #1 snow cones in Houston. Lizzy liked my snow cone and loved Mike's hula breeze drink. Afterwards, we headed to the boundless playground nearby. A playground funded by the Christopher Reeves foundation designed so disabled kids could play alongside other kids and have lots of fun. The playground has a music area where children jump on music notes and it plays music sounds. Later, we looked at turtles in the pond. Lizzy had so much fun she didn't want to leave.

Ice Cream Cones

It's not technically summer yet but here in Texas around May it feels like summer and when it's hot we eat lots of popsicles and ice cream to keep cool. Of course, Lizzy is in heaven when we allow her some ice cream.

Artwork Frame

Lizzy creates a lot of artwork and I needed a place to display her art other than on the fridge, someplace she would see it displayed nicely in a frame. I got an unfinished wooden frame at Hobby Lobby that holds scrapbook size pages. I took the backing off and stapled some cardboard to the back of the frame that way I can just slide in Lizzy's art and change the art periodically. I hung it inside Lizzy's playstand area. Lizzy is very interested in the art she creates.

Vrrrroom Vrrooom!

Lizzy got this toy car for her 1st birthday and she didn't play with it much until now. But now she loves it! She pushes it all around and make vroom vroom sounds. Lizzy is developing quite an imagination it's fun to observe her play.
