Having Fun Outside

We went to a crawfish boil party at Mike's work. It was outdoors and Lizzy had lots of fun showing off her new learned skill to everyone.

Lizzy's 1st Birthday Invite

Lizzy's 1st birthday is now less than a month away! Invites have gone out now it's just time to wait for the big day. I designed Lizzy's invites. I used scrapblog to design the layout and add the characters and such then I printed them out on photo paper and handmade the Yo Gabba Gabba boom box jackets. Making the invites was a lot of fun except for printing them on photo paper because they wouldn't resize the right way but I learned a lot for the next time I do this. Here's the final product:

Picnic at the Park

We took Lizzy and Bella to the park for a family picnic. Lizzy had a great time she loves the outdoors and riding the wagon. She was cracking up laughing at Bella when we went on a walk...I guess she thinks Bella walks funny. Bella doesn't like going out very much but we want to include her when we go out, maybe one day she will enjoy going out with us.

Happy Earth Day

Lizzy's first pair of walking shoes

I took Lizzy to get her first pair of walking shoes now that she's walking! I thought she had big feet but according to the sales person she has small feet. She wears size 3.5 wide. Walking shoes start at size 4 so the shoes she got are for babies who walk holding onto something but these will work for now. Next month she will probably be size 4 since babies grow so fast. Bellow are some pictures from today.

Lizzy took her first steps today!

Lizzy took her first steps today, we were in the kitchen and she was standing up then she just took some steps toward me! She has been practicing ever since....later that day she was in her room and I see her walk out of her room by herself : ) It's hard to get a good video of it because every time we get the camera out she stops what she's doing and tries to get the camera from us but we did get a couple small clip you can view bellow.

Lizzy has a new blog!

In order to follow and document Lizzy's home school learning experience I have created another blog for her. The blog Naturally Playful follows the Montessori method with combination of Waldorf method and natural learning. After looking at other blogs I noticed a lack in infant/toddler Montessori blogs and decided to start one to share with other like minded parents and personally record these experiences for my own. I hope you will enjoy it as much as you have this blog. I will try to keep up with both the best I can. The link to the other blog is here and also down the right side of this page.

Update

We have been very busy with Mike working the mission, my job, birthday planning, and keeping up with Lizzy. With the weather so nice we try to make it outside everyday. Lizzy absolutely loves being outside and playing in water.

She is learning new things everyday...recently she has figured out how to turn the light switch on and off as we walk by it, unplug the bath drain and sink drain, and open and close doors and cabinets.

Lizzy has said several words like kisses, yea, daddy, mama, baby, hi, bye, and cookie. She will just all of a sudden start talking and say a word but she has not associated the word with the meaning yet. She really likes to talk like we can understand her right now.

She still loves yo gabba gabba, and she also loves books now. She likes books with bright, simple, pictures.

Her bottom teeth are still coming in and her top teeth are just breaking through. She still eats purees 3 times a day and also eats finger food and snacks.
